Washington Mills Apartments Lawrence Ma SMC Management Corp 716,500 sq. ft
Performed a combination of selective demolition involving a large interior gut out of a portion of the building and total demolition of multiple structures. One building was immediately adjacent to the river which needed to have additional processes, including craning materials of the seven-story structure, to ensure no contamination of the river. This building had multiple basements with approx. 4000 yards of concrete that were crushed and used to backfill the foundation. There was a geotechnical fabric system used to support any lateral movement of the river in 12-inch lifts. The site contained all asbestos-contaminated soils that could not be removed from the property.
